GROWING ABILITIES PROJECT (GAP)
A Garden to Market Program that integrates Disabled Communities
- A collaboration between H-OM-E’s Planting the Seeds outreach and Mother Road Studios US Bus Artreach programs.
- Reinforcing environmental awareness and action, our GAP garden to market, work-based learning program cultivates fully-inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in sustainable agriculture.
- Mother Road Studios (MRS) provides opportunities for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities (PIDD) to be fully-included in their communities by creating platforms for meaningful interactions, friendships and collaborations with their non-disabled peers. The organization focuses on teens and adults with PIDD recognizing they are far too often faced with limited opportunities to pursue secondary education or to find work. MRS will provide the US Bus as the public face of the GAP, transporting participants and acting as the actual market stand from which edible products made from GAP gardens are sold and music/educational information are shared.

Singer/songwriter Coleman, daughter of famed actor Dabney Coleman, was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in 2009. “When I decided to take responsibility for my part in the manifestation of the dis-ease in my body, the healing began and it reversed without western medicine or conventional treatment…by coming home to my soul, listening to my heart and loving the cancer.”
Coleman believes with great passion, that if each one of us can take responsibility for our part in the manifestation of the dis-ease of our global family and the planet we can heal humanity and the earth.

CHRISTINA CANNARELLA

Mother Road Studios’ Founder/CVO Christina Cannarella, has been immersed in the disability community for over 23 years, as the mother of Johnny, her son with IDD. She is an award-winning advocate for inclusion recognized in 2020 by the UN’s International Labour Organization (ILO) for her work.
